Where it goes
Rhema is built and maintained by one person in their free time. There is no team behind it and no marketing budget, and it is given away rather than sold.
Development time
The largest cost by far. Every feature, bug fix and release is unpaid evening and weekend work, and time is the thing donations actually buy.
Hardware for testing
Real-time speech models need a capable GPU, and behaviour differs across graphics cards, microphones and multi-monitor setups. Testing widely takes hardware.
Keeping it free
There is no paid tier and no plan for one. Churches, ministries and nonprofits get the whole application at no cost, and donations are what make that sustainable.

Tell us how it went
Reports from real services and meetings are genuinely useful, especially when something worked badly. Accents, room acoustics and hardware vary far more than any one developer can test.
Suggest what is missing
Feature requests are read by an actual person. Not everything can be built by one developer, but a clearly explained need has a real chance of shaping what comes next.
Contribute code
The whole application is open source under the GPL-3.0. Bug fixes, language handling and accessibility improvements are all welcome.
Pass it on
Most people who need this do not know it exists. If it helped your congregation or meeting, mention it to someone running into the same language barrier.
Honest answers
Are donations tax deductible?
No. Rhema is not a registered charity and donations are not tax deductible. Please give on that basis rather than expecting a receipt for your accountant.
Is anything held back if I do not donate?
Nothing. There is no paid version, no locked features, no watermark and no nag screen. The entire application is free to everyone, donors or not.
Can I donate monthly?
Yes, PayPal allows a recurring amount if you prefer. Regular support is more useful than a one-off, because it makes the time commitment predictable, but one-off gifts are just as welcome.
Can my church get an invoice or a receipt?
PayPal issues a payment confirmation, which is usually enough for a small church’s records. If your treasurer needs something more specific, ask on GitHub Discussions.
I cannot give anything. Can I still use it?
Yes, absolutely, and please do. It was built for congregations without a budget for professional interpretation. Using it is not something you have to earn.
